PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. – Laura Alvarez has been named the 2026 ISSA Residential Professional Cleaner of the Year, presented by PerfectCLEAN. She is a cleaning technician at the Palm Beaches branch of Neat and Repeat Cleaning. ISSA is the worldwide cleaning industry association.
The award is part of the ISSA Residential Professional Image Awards. It honors the cleaner or trainer that clients, coworkers, and owners count on most.

It’s the third year in a row the company’s team has earned honors from the program. Arielle Larken, operations manager at the Palm Beaches branch, won Office Team Member of the Year in 2025. That same year, team member Sandra earned an honorable mention for Professional Cleaner of the Year. In 2024, Andrea Russell of the Palm Beaches branch earned an honorable mention in the same category.
The company assigns the same two-person team to each home. Alvarez starts her third year with the company in January. She cares for about 20 recurring clients. Some have their homes cleaned more than once a week. Many would rather wait for a spot on her schedule than switch. Rachel Duffie runs the Palm Beaches branch.
Alvarez also spots problems others miss. She has found mold damage and insect problems that property managers had overlooked. That gave homeowners time to fix small issues before they got costly. When the company has a client who is hard to please, Alvarez gets the job. Duffie says many of those clients go on to become some of the company’s most loyal.
Every tech at the company finishes ISSA Certified Professional Housekeeper training before the first visit. New cleaning technicians also spend their first two weeks training with Alvarez. They learn how to keep their cars organized, care for their gear, and talk with clients. Duffie says this helps new hires stay. They see right away how much she cares about the work.
“Finding another cleaning technician is possible. Finding another Laura is not,” Duffie wrote in her nomination.
Alvarez found out about the award when she stopped by the office for what she thought was a routine check-in. Balloons were waiting for her.
“I was very surprised. I had no idea,” Alvarez said.
Outside of work, Alvarez runs in a yearly Halloween 5K and gets teammates to join her. She helped organize a local beach cleanup that’s becoming a regular team event. She also gives her time through the company’s work with Cleaning for a Reason. The group gives free cleanings to people going through cancer treatment. The team gives these cleanings in Palm Beach County, Martin County, and Port St. Lucie.
ISSA will honor this year’s winners on Tuesday, November 17. The ISSA Residential and Cleaning for a Reason Awards Ceremony takes place during ISSA Show North America in Las Vegas.
ISSA’s full feature on Alvarez, with video, is on the ISSA website. To learn more about the company, visit the Neat and Repeat Cleaning website.
