CARSON, CA, UNITED STATES, September 17, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — CARSON, CA — On September 11, 2026, at 4:00 p.m., the City of Carson Public Information Office hosted a deeply memorable and standing-room-only program in the lobby of City Hall to mark the 25th anniversary of 9/11 and honor the community’s extraordinary local heroes.

Transformed into an elegant, patriotic space, the City Hall lobby welcomed attendees with stringed lights in red, white, and blue, buntings, balloon columns, small floral arrangements featuring red flowers, and clear and blue jewels sprinkled with fairy lights that added a whimsical touch to the solemn occasion.

The program opened with a solemn invocation and moment of silence led by Bishop Harry Eaves. This was followed by the powerful voice of Alexandra Taylor Diaz, who captivated the audience by belting out the national anthem, as well as stirring renditions of “Hero” and “America the Beautiful.” As her voice echoed and ricocheted off the ceiling, everyone in attendance was moved, setting the stage.

The keynote message was delivered by Acting Assistant Fire Chief Burton Wade Kelsey, dressed in his formal uniform, who reflected on the tragic attacks of 9/11 and how courage and unity arose out of adversity. A special video presentation showcased interviews with the honorees, allowing the audience to hear in their own words about the impactful contributions they have made to the Carson community. Each honoree was presented with an award and shared a photo opportunity with the mayor and city council, offering touching moments as recipients expressed deep humility and gratitude for the recognition.

Reflecting on the successful gathering, the Mayor shared high praise for the evening:

“I am so pleased with how this event turned out. I am endlessly proud of the work our heroes do to take care of our community. The Jewel of the South Bay shines bright because of our local heroes.”

It was a beautiful and unforgettable way to commemorate the 25th anniversary of a day that forever changed America while celebrating the local heroes of Carson who have forever changed our community.
